Product requirements in your editor. Write PRDs from code context, implement from specs, and verify your changes match requirements — powered by ChatPRD's MCP.

Observed tools

  • ai_create_document — Has ChatPRD's AI write a new document from a prompt, using the user's saved context and an optional template (see list_templates). Use create_document instead when you already have the full markdown. Waits up to ~50s; if status is still generating, poll get_document_generation.
  • ai_edit_document — Has ChatPRD's AI make targeted edits to an existing document from instructions, keeping its structure. Use update_document instead when you already have the full replacement markdown. Waits up to ~50s; if status is still generating, poll get_document_generation.
  • ai_rewrite_document — Has ChatPRD's AI rewrite an existing document from instructions (broad restructuring or regeneration). Use ai_edit_document for targeted changes. Waits up to ~50s; if status is still generating, poll get_document_generation.
  • create_document — Creates a new document from complete markdown content. Provide contentMarkdown with the full document. Returns the created document details.
  • get_document — Retrieves a specific document by its UUID, including full content and updatedAt. Before replacing a document, pass this updatedAt value to update_document as expectedUpdatedAt.
  • get_document_generation — Returns the status of an ai_create_document / ai_edit_document / ai_rewrite_document run: generating, ready (includes the document), or failed.
  • get_public_template — Returns a built-in ChatPRD template as Markdown: its purpose, the inputs to gather, writing guidance, and the section outline. Works without a ChatPRD account. Use the outline to write the document as Markdown for the user.
  • get_user_profile — Fetches the profile information of the authenticated user, including name, email, and current subscription status.
  • list_chats — Lists all chats associated with the authenticated user in your personal account, including title, creation date, external ID, and message count. Supports limiting the number of results.
  • list_documents — Lists all documents belonging to the authenticated user in your personal account, including title, creation date, and associated thread. Supports limiting the number of results.
  • list_organization_documents — Lists all documents belonging to a specific organization by its Clerk ID. Supports limiting the number of results.
  • list_project_documents — Lists available documents for a specific project. Optionally scope to an organization.
  • list_projects — Lists available projects for the user. Optionally scope to an organization.
  • list_public_templates — Lists ChatPRD's built-in document templates (PRD, AI development brief, user testing plan, launch checklist) with what each is for. Works without a ChatPRD account. Use get_public_template to fetch a template's outline before writing the document.
  • list_templates — Lists available document templates for the user. Optionally scope to an organization and include system templates.
  • list_user_organizations — Lists all organizations the authenticated user is a member of. Supports limiting the number of results.
  • search_chats — Searches for chats associated with the authenticated user in your personal account, including title, creation date, external ID, and message count. Supports limiting the number of results.
  • search_documents — Searches for documents owned by the authenticated user that match the provided text in the title or content. Returns a list of matching documents with basic details.
  • update_document — Replaces an existing document with complete rewritten markdown. Call get_document first and pass its updatedAt value as expectedUpdatedAt. If the document changed, fetch it again, reapply the edit, and retry.
