Which Claude tool checks a website's SEO?
Website Auditor (#58 in Claude's Most popular) and the SEO Audit plugin (#108) audit a site from Claude; neither shows its tool list without sign-in. Website Auditor is a desktop extension, the best placed SEO listing in Most popular, and it can make changes.
Two more audit plugins do the same job: SEO-AEO-GEO Ultimate at #104 and Claude SEO and GEO Site Audit at #133. None of these plugins names a publisher on its listing.
Which SEO apps lead on Claude?
Ahrefs is the highest ranked SEO app with a Claude listing. It is #2 of 44 SEO apps by OpenApps Rank on Oct 27, 2026, with a score of 0.027. The #1 app, WPVibe, is a WordPress app listed on ChatGPT only.
Of the top 20 SEO apps, 11 have a Claude listing. Most are the big SEO suites, each with a connector in Claude and an app in ChatGPT. Two are on Claude alone: MakeBox for Etsy and Agency MCP.

What can each Claude SEO tool do?
Ahrefs, Semrush and Ubersuggest bring keyword and backlink data into Claude, audit plugins and Website Auditor check a site, and AthenaHQ tracks how AI answers mention a brand. Most keep their MCP tools behind sign-in, so for those we say what the app is for and whether it can make changes. Where a tool list is readable, we describe it in plain words.
Ahrefs is Ahrefs' own connector, #59 in Most popular. It brings Ahrefs' backlink and keyword data into a Claude chat. Its tools sit behind sign-in, so we can't say if it reads only.
Semrush is #61 in Most popular and can make changes. It covers keyword research and competitor sites. On ChatGPT, Semrush is #23 in Productivity, with its tools also behind sign-in.
Ubersuggest is #124 in Most popular and can make changes. On ChatGPT, Ubersuggest shows 59 tools. They find keyword ideas and search volume, list backlinks, and run a site audit that returns broken pages by issue. They track rankings for a saved project and measure how often AI assistants mention a brand. The tools that make changes save keyword lists, create projects and start writing full articles. Its Claude connector keeps its tools behind sign-in, so its tool list may differ.
AthenaHQ tracks how a brand shows up in AI answers. Its server has 103 tools on Claude: mention rate, share of voice, the sources AI answers cite, and rankings in Google. It also drafts content briefs and articles, and tracks the URLs of articles you publish. AthenaHQ can make changes: 39 of its 103 tools change data.
OpenSEO is #125 in Most popular and can make changes. It is also listed on Cursor. Its tools are behind sign-in on both.
Does Claude get the fuller version?
Only one SEO app, AthenaHQ, shows its tools on more than one store, and it runs the same 103 tools on Claude, Cursor and Grok Bot. Among the big suites, only Ubersuggest shows a tool list, and only on ChatGPT.

How to choose an SEO tool for Claude
Choosing an SEO tool for Claude comes down to the data you already have and what you want Claude to touch. These checks follow the comparison above.
- Start from the account you pay for. If you use Ahrefs, Semrush or Ubersuggest, add its connector. Each one brings its own index of keywords and links into Claude.
- For a quick check of one site, try an audit plugin or Website Auditor. SEO Audit and Claude SEO and GEO Site Audit are plugins. Website Auditor is a desktop extension.
- For your own search data, pick a Search Console app. SEO GSC Wizard is on Claude. Its ChatGPT version, GSC Wizard, is #2 in Data & Analytics.
- For visibility in AI answers, look at AthenaHQ or Peec AI. Both track how often AI assistants name a brand.
- Decide if Claude may make changes. Semrush, Ubersuggest, OpenSEO, Website Auditor and AthenaHQ can make changes. Ahrefs and Similarweb hide their tools until you sign in.
Method and limits
OpenApps Rank scores an app from its places in each store's popularity charts and adds up the stores it is in. The table above is the top 20 of 44 ranked SEO apps on Oct 27, 2026. A rank is a position in a list, not a count of users.
The SEO & AI search tag holds 281 apps: 219 on ChatGPT, 90 on Claude, 31 on Cursor and 6 on Grok Bot. Our tool figures cover the 233 top apps we list in the tag. Of those, 117 run an MCP server, and 23 of the 117 (20%) show their tools without sign-in. The rest are servers behind sign-in. For some Claude connectors, such as Semrush, we know they can make changes but not which tools do it. For others, such as Ahrefs, we can't tell.
A tag can include apps that only mention SEO. The ranked table is the tag as it stands, so it keeps apps such as Abency, which manages an agency's brands. Claude's Most popular list mixes kinds, so a plugin's place means most next to other plugins (Claude connectors vs plugins vs skills).
